What is SIN?

Some people would say it’s an “error”, “mistakes” or “poor judgment.”  Sin is falling short of the perfect standard God has set. And, by our very nature, we all have fallen short of His standard. Yes, we are all guilty. Yes, we all sinned against Him.

·         When you violate God’s law with deeds, such as sexual immorality (adultery), theft, murder, or idolatry.

·         Unrighteous thoughts or attitudes like lust, hostility, envy, or selfish ambition.

·         A general lack of trust, love, or obedience to God.

Examples: First murder Cain murdered his brother Abel; The son of King David, Absalom committed murder against his own brother Amnon.  Adultery was committed by King David and Bathsheba who was married to Uriah. Bathsheba became pregnant for David which led to David arranging Uriah’s death. 2 Samuel 11.  A woman was bought to Jesus caught in the act of adultery. John 7:53-8:11.

In the Ten Commandments Exodus 20:14# 6 - Thou shall not Kill; #7 -Thou shall not commit adultery

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

Romans 3:23
